So, you may have come across Gotzborg
either intentionally or by mistake. You are either someone
familiar with micronationalism, or someone who is just interested in
flexing your creative talents through government, or another
niche. Citizenship means something more than a status
symbol. The Kingdom is a place where you can build a community,
be a part of the community and identify with others who share the
desire to interact, build, create and generally enjoy the discussion,
debate disagreements and pride which comes from any community.
Not sure what you want to do? No problem, you have some choices!
Do you want to say "I am a Gotzborger and proud of it."? Are you
interested in contributing to the nation? Then the Kingdom is for
you!
What will I need to be a citizen?
-
An Internet
connection If you are reading this now, you are good to go!
-
An Gotzborg forum account. Online
message boards and forums are the
primary communications tool used to interact with your fellow citizens,
gets news and information and generally gather to enjoy the nation,
conduct business, government activity and foreign relations. It
is like the main market place which helps to give Gotzborg character.
-
A first name
and last name. Some people come into the micronational
sphere and use their own name or a variation of it, others participate
using a psuedonym. Either way you will need a first and last name
which you will be registered as a citizen under and which will be
recognized as your legal name in the Kingdom.
-
A desire to
participate. Some people, caught up in the moment of
things, apply and are accepted and then are quickly sucked up by the
black silence, never to be seen or heard of again. We prefer that
should you decide to join, you will have a level of committment to
participate and contribute, whether that means popping in once a day to
chat, once a week or every hour. If you are interested in
government service, please keep in mind that the more senior or
important the position, the more you will be required to contribute to
provide leadership and direction.
-
A desire to
build and create. Some things are already built and made,
many, many others are not. If you have any ideas or desires on
things to build or create, do not hesitate to contact us to discuss,
there is always room to grow.
Foreign
Titles, Awards and Peerages
Many people in the course of their experiences in micronationalism may
have gained and been bestowed titles, awards and peerages from other
micronations. Due to the sheer plethora of nations along with the
easy ability to grant oneself any title or position appropriate, the
Royal Kingdom of Gotzborg does not recognize any award, title or
peerage when a prospective citizen wishes to join Gotzborg. What
this means is that while someone may be the Lord Governor-General &
Overlord Supreme in another nation, when they join Gotzborg, they are
doing so as regular Joe Smith. This is to ensure a level playing
field, protect the Gotzborg system of Honours and Awards, which are
used to reward and promote citizens for their contributions, time and
service. Were Gotzborg to allow foreign titles for its citizens
then it would skew the levels of seniorty and precedence which is a
part of Gotzborg.
Foreign nationals who wish to join the Gotzborg forums to conduct
business of another nation may do so and their titles will be respected
as would be expected of Gotzborgers visiting other nations. Dual
accounts for the same person are not allowed. Therefore should
Joe Smith continue to represent his other nation while in Gotzborg, he
cannot have a second account from which to conduct the foreign national
business. This is a security measure to minimize and avoid
'Papelism'. If you are a Gotzborger, you are a Gotzborger first,
a foreign national second.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask away at the

Prospective Citizenship
Due to the number of people who join micronations on the spur of the
moment, a system of prospective citizenship was developed in order to
weed out those who may not have actually understood or appreciate the
community and the committments inherent within.
What does prospective citizenship mean?
Prospective citizenship limits the applicants ability to apply for
high-level jobs within the Kingdom including all Ministerial,
Governmental and civil service occupations. As these positions
require leaders with a proven record of presence and activity on the
forums and the Kingdom, those who do not display this would not be
considered. As a prospective citizen is a new member of the
Kingdom, it is a two way interview for the citizenship to interact with
the new member and for the new member to really verify whether or not
they want to be a part of the Kingdom.
How long does prospective citizenship
last?
Prospective citizenship may last indefinetely and is completely
dependent upon a persons interactions on the forums. Because all
of the interaction within the Kingdom occurs within the structure of
the forums, not participating there does not guarantee one's move to
full citizenship.
Full citizenship will be approved when it is felt that the prospective
citizen has shown that they are interested in participating on a
regular basis within the Kingdom.
If I can't be a government minister,
it doesn't seem like there is much else I can do?
The benefit and beauty of the micronational world is that there is a
myriad of opportunities, most of which require the creativity and
initiative to identify and seize upon. It is specifically
recommended that if you do not know what you would like to do or how
you would like to contribute, that you spend time reading through the
website, talking to other citizens on the forums.
Prospective citizens may still join the Armed Forces or start their own
business.
Full Citizenship
Once a person becomes a full citizen, they are entitled to have their
name added officially to the Royal Census along with their own 'Who's
Who' page which acts as a resume and historical record of a persons
citizenship in Gotzborg.
As well, full citizenship allows one to apply for top level government
positions and a voice within the Chamber of Deputies, which is the
Kingdom's direct democracy facility.
Full citizens are entitled to apply for a grant of arms which are
provided as a one-of-a-kind unique personal identifier and signature
each citizen may proudly bear.
